I haven't used CHKDSK in awhile. But if it did change the extension
to .chk if the file has not been otherwise changed or damaged, just
changing the extension again should make them readable.

When you are trying for help you need to tell us the things that you
are doing. And you probably should not run any unusual programs if you
don't know what it will do.

OK, now I am confused, why are you differentiating between the
pictures and the data. Everything on a computer is either program or
data. Pictures are data, text files are data. Files with .exe or .com
or even .bat are programs as are .dll and similar programs.
