Thank you. I heard it was a hard OS to use. Is this true? And how is it 
different from XP, which I've learned to use and like?

Please don't confuse a program with an Operating System....

Windows Vista is an Operating System, as as Windows XP.

Examples of programs are RealPlayer, Microsoft Office.
