Windows blue screens can be caused by lots of different problems. I
doubt a virus. Most likely some corrupted system files, or a problem
with the Hard Drive. Getting into Safe Mode might be the key to fixing
this.......

Try rebooting and keep tapping F8. You'll come to the boot menu. See if
there's an option to start with the "last known good configuration".

From the boot menu choose "Safe Mode". At the Safe Mode desktop you
can try a couple things:

1. At the safe mode desktop try using System Restore to go back to a
date before this problem started. Start, All Programs, Accessories,
System Tools, System Restore. You'll see a calendar. Choose a date
prior to the prob if possible.

2. At the Safe Mode desktop try running Checkdisk to see if there are
any probs with the hard drive. From the desktop go to (you didn't
mention your OS so this may vary a bit) Start.
Click My Computer (Computer in Vista).
Right-click the drive to check (C:).
Click the Properties tab.
Click "Check Now", and put a check in the boxes to auto fix errors and
scan for bad sectors.
Be aware that if your drive is large this can take a few hours to finish.

Also, maybe the quickest fix would be to restore the laptop using the
hidden recovery partition (if your model has one). Try booting and
holding down the 0 key. On some Toshibas that's how you access the
Recover menu.

Good luck,
Donk
