Sounds like a DNS problem, but nothing you did would have changed your 
DNS settings.  Otherwise, could have something to do with a firewall - 
How about Spybot - check its settings for Resident and Tea Timer.
Do you use a browser Toolbar?  Spybot might have deleted part of that 
(the adware part) and so it might not be functioning correctly.  You 
could re-install it, or try Uninstalling it in Control Panel, Add-Remove 
Prgorams.
