Wendy You are more likely to get infected from adult sites. But lots of other sites target popular things, Pharmacy/pills, financial help etc. Headlines like Japan and Iodine pills. But the usual cautions apply, clicking on ads, pop-ups, downloading files. Good virus and anti-malware software, check and update often. Harden your web browser and/or use something other then IE. (security options and settings in the browser) Don't just click on links. Use browser add-ons like WOT - Web of Trust. There is lots of free software that tells you if links from searches are safe. Firefox has lots of security add-ons, and comodo dragon, or iron (are made to be more secure) You can get infected by just going to a web site. Don't click on email file attachments or links if you are not sure.
Mac is much less likely to be infected by viruses, but I still use anti-virus software on mine. Mac does some things better then PC. It is a learning curve either way. Mac hardware, software and service is sometimes a little more costly. Depending on your area, there should be help and computer clubs for Mac. For web browsing on the Mac you can use Safari or Firefox. mike bader On 3/18/2011 10:33 AM, Wendy Schofield wrote: > Thank you very much Donk!
