If I understand your description, you may be talking about the electrical
contacts that "connect" when you push the button.
A couple of points:

1: Is the remote wireless or wired--i.e. does it have batteries or is there a
wire connecting it to the bed mechanism?
If it is wireless, then working on it after you remove the batteries is
safe.
If it is wired to the mechanism, then it should only be opened and worked
on once it is disconnected from the mechanism and the power to the mechanism is
removed.

2: If the contacts are simply dirty, then they can usually be cleaned with
contact cleaner (available from Radio Shack). Cleaning the contacts with a
contact cleaner is fairly easy, but first you have to make sure the contacts
are actually metal (usually gold plated, but not always) or simply conductive
paint.
If they have worn through, then repair gets a bit more difficult.

More information about the remote is needed. Brand name and model number would
help. Have you looked on the manufacturer's web site for any information?

Get back to the group with more details.
