I really think your hard drive has become defective, and is about ready to totally fail. I would suggest you copy your entire "Documents" folder onto either an external hard drive, or a thumb drive, or whatever other means you have to back your important data up.
If the hard drive dies, the only option is to buy and install a new one. Everything on the dead drive will be lost forever unless you back up your important data. One way to check if the drive is defective is to test the drive by running Checkdisk..... 1. After you have backed up your data go to Start, and click My Computer. 2. right-click on your C: drive and choose Properties from the popup menu. 3. Click the TOOLS tab. 4. Click the button that says "Check Now" 5. Put a check mark in both empty boxes, and then click START It could take a long time to finish - maybe around an hour. When it's done you'll get a report. Unless it says "no errors found on volume" you should probably replace the drive. If it says there are any bad sectors, then the drive is in the process of dieing. Also - if a drive is starting to go bad, running Checkdisk can actually cause the drive to totally fail. So: Before you run Checkdisk - BACK UP any data you don't want to lose. Good luck, Donk PS: If a drive is failing, there are NO tools or programs you can buy or install that will fix it.
