Well, if you like Vista and have the disks - you could always stick with it - it would be free since you already got it. Win7 is nice, but it's quite a bit different and will take a while to get the hang of. MS has moved around a lotta stuff and it takes a while to get used to where everything is. But it is a good stable OS and you'll learn to love it. Be sure to ask your tech guy if your computer specs will let you run win7 smoothly. You're probably fine since your PC is only 2 years old.
I have heard that the upgrade path to win7 is not the best idea. He'd have to install vista first, and then run the upgrade to 7. It will probably work fine - especially if it will be free for you - and save you the cost of buying Win7.
