Apologies - I misunderstood your question. I don't know of any available
applications using an XML based music input language
The Recordare web site ( http://www.recordare.com/ ) mentions some Windows
software, but it isn't clear to me whether it's available.

but I don't have the time right now to work my way through it and see what
applications are actually available.

I think there's a certain chicken and egg situation at the moment - it's
waiting for its abc2win. I'm fairly sure it will happen though, there seem
to be a number of different XML based music languages around and eventually
one of them will become the de facto standard, at which point more
applications are likely to become available.
