Even if the fact that reservations follow the merrit list is true, why can't the IIM be candid about this? I think, despite the rules and the supposed adherence to it, administrators and officials tend to be arbitrary, as they often assume too many things and don't simply bother to refer to the procedure to be followed.
What is shocking is that, Shriram, one of this list members, who was my junior in college, had his admission done successfully in IIM Bangalore in 1995. I remember him mentioning some problems, though I was not updated clearly about it. But, what I guess is that the management set-up may have changed now and those new on the board may not have sufficiently updated themselves about the prevailing rules and procedures of reservation.
