Yes, it should be valid for life time. But I don't think that govt. Will be
ready to accept it.

Yes, it should be made for the life time, provided a person is having
permanent disability certificate. So we can request the government to
extend the validity of railway certificate for the life in case of
permanent disability.

how ever they did not tell us the process of renewal of smart card
because it is a long process all the people can't go to drm office
every 5 years so we all should fight for lifetime validity of smart

Hello,
Thank you all for sharing your experience regarding the so called railway
smart card. This suggests that govt. Has accepted our long pending demand
halfheartedly. In my view we should write directly to Mr. Prabhu in this
regard. The card should be valid for at least 5 years from the date of
issuance and not from the date of issuance of the concession certificate.

Dear Mohib when I had first visited DRM new delhi in Feb 2015 with old
concession certificate they told it was not valid get new concession
certificate from NFB then immediately on 15th Feb 2015 I got new
concession certificate from NFB delhi & applied for Railway ID card on
25th Feb 2015 & the card was done on 22nd April 2015 but they never
called me I myself went to enquire about the ID card in August 2015
there I saw my card was done in april 2015, here another thing is the
railway authorities have stamped full on my concession certificate
that the concession certificate is of no valid in future because of
issuing of ID card.

In the notification, nothing of such sort has been mentioned that the
validity of the smart card will be different for different
disabilities. If one is holding permanent disability certificate, its
dumb to say that you may retain sight on eye donation.
On 6/2/16, SHANKAR DIGUVAPALLI <[email protected]> wrote:
When i questioned the issuing authority about the validity he said
that for other disabilities like oh, and hh. it is five years from the
date of issuing the smart card. but for visually impaired it is five
years from the date of concession cirtificate when i questioned him
again and again he said that "if anyone donate an eye you can retain
sight." i was shocked by that reply.

It is true i collected applications from 70 visually impaired persons
and got smart cards for all of them at guntakallu in andhrapradesh
the
issueing authority said that he issued smart card from the date of
the
issuing of concession by the local doctor therefore you should submit
the latest concession cirtificate so that you can get smart card
valied upto 5 years from the date of issueing the smart card.

Hello
Has anyone from the list received his/her railway ID card? If yes,
what
is
the expiry date of the card? Actually, a friend of mine has just
received
his card which is valid up to November 2017.
Is it not a joke? The concession certificate which we are using till
now
is
valid for 5 years from the date of issuance. Anyone eligible for the
concession can get the certificate within no time. But the smart
card
which
is being issued in 3 to 6 months is valid for 1 or two years.
