Hi, As far I know these files, names of which begin with ~ are temporarily created by Microsoft Word for its own use. Generally such files disappear once you close the original file. I haven't tried out with any setting that enables/disables removal of such files after closing the original one. Writing this email for you to know that there's nothing to panic about it and remove the temporarily file without hesitation.
