I used to find the football commentaries on BBC radio to be very
descriptive. Assuming one knows the layout of a football field, one could
get a pretty good idea of what was happening. We need to apply the same
principles to television.

Of course, none of the commentators have been of any great quality. I have
found the discussions to be very inane. I stick to reading live sports
commentaries on the BBC website or, I read about the event on my website of
choice this way, I get the key highlights of the event and do not need to
spend too much time in wading through the commentary. Having said the above,
I am not a keen sports fan. I may track very significant events but other
than that, my interest in sports is very limited.
