Not all protected books are inaccessible. I do read adobe protected books, but sometimes I encounter a book with doesn't have read allowed featured enabled. By "read allowed" mean permision for the screen reader. I guess some publishers or authors (I am not sure who has the control) do not understand this and take a safe option (only for them) and disable this option. And offen it is hard to find whether the book has "read allowed" enabled, so once I bought a book, and found that it is not readable, but on writing to them about this problem they returned my payment. However they did not correct the problem.

A good idea. Except, most of the protected formats like Microsoft's Lit, Adobe's Digital Edition, ISILO's reader, etc, cannot be accessed using a screen reader. The only way you can read these books is to convert them into unsecured or unprotected formats. This brings us back to the point where we started from.
