I beg to differ with the moderator. Putting in names of ICICI officials is 
of no use.  We have different problems with different banks and their 
various officers. the nature of the problems with branch officers who may be 
across the street from each other are varied. Bharat is not the first to 
suffer because some official was oversmart. Jean also suffered with ICICI . 
How does it matter who troubled her or him. .

So basically what is important is the names of the Banks and  the nature of 
the problem-what was denied and how it was sorted out. Like in this case the 
matter was referred to the RBI and.......

I  will one day compile the list of problems that we have faced.

I know that some of us have backed down and some have fought. It will be a 
good research paper for someone who likes to look back.

hi all,
   am very happy to inform you all that after a long tussel, the ICICI 
official finally agreed to open my account & on the last wednesday, they 
opened my account.
   now, we have been issued with an ATM, a chequebook & all the internet 
based facilities.
   once again, i would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to kanchan 
for her constant active support & a regular follow up to resolve my 
concern. something, without which things wouldn't have taken such a 
pleasant turn.
   thanks to all the other people who pitched in & offered their support 
& suggestions.
   as a last point in this regard, if it may be appropriate according to 
harish & may not amount to the violation of the privacy of the officials, 
i would like to post the address, phone number & all the other details of 
the people who finally processed my account details & more, so that the 
same may be used by someone who may need to open an account in ICICI or 
some other bank. though, all of these officials are from ICICI.

   my wife & I would like to open a joint bank account
with ICICI. we
approached the bank officials with regard to it, however,
we were
informed that while, the RBI guidelines permit a blind
person to open
a bank account along with being issued a chequebook & an
ATM, the same
cannot be done in case of a joint account. I.E. a blind
couple cannot
open a joint bank account, as the same is not mandated &
permissible
in case of a blind couple.
