I feel VI teachers must take this opportunity to reflect particularly on how the role of teachers and the service of teaching has changed drastically with the advent of internet and technology. There is a researcher in the US who has predicted that Universities as we know them today may be dead in 20 years time. Imagine, if everyone were to learn from the best minds of the world --by logging on to YouTube and downloading lectures of folks from UC Berkley etc-- and listen to them in their iPods? If this is possible, then what are you going to offer as a teacher and how would you distinguish yourself in the world where teaching is nothing different from a corporate service, given that institutions today charge outrageous sums as fees. Think over.

They are selfless givers and mentors for life. At every step, you come across teachers who devote their entire life to the enlightenment of students. We are indeed honoured to share with you a poem titled "Treasure Trove of Books" by Leela Jacob, an English teacher from Bhavan's Public School, Baroda. Treasure Trove of Books Deprived of eyesight, Milton didn't falter. He reached his height With Paradise Lost, And Paradise Regained, later. Books galore await your pleasure, A feast for the inner eye. Dive for the bountiful treasure, Savour the thrill to the full, Till you reach as high as the Sky. For you we have 'bookbole', Technology at your doorstep. Everything is easily available. Flex your intellectual muscles, Till you plumb your own depth.
