I too think that there is no need for restricting membership by means of referals and invitation. We are all, most of us, able to say this just because the access was free when we joined the list. There are a lot of silent listers who benefit from fellow listers quiries. So let the list be open to all. And regarding duplicate email accounts: Many of us do have more than one account and this does not tell us anything. Let's all follow the rules, and there is the moderator in case of any violation.
