News- The Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW), Vellore district branch, would be conducting the district level National Painting Competition 2015 at the P. Dhandapani Mudaliar Thirumana Mandapam here from 9.30 a.m. on July 28Sarada Ramanathan, Joint Secretary of the project said in a release that the competition was being held for two categories, i.e., normal children and differently-abled children. There are three groups in the normal category, i.e., Green Group (5-8 years), White Group (9-12 years) and Blue Group (13-16 years), and two groups in the differently-abled category, viz., Yellow Group (5-10 years) and Red Group (11-18 years). The differently-abled category would have the following subgroups each in the Yellow and Red Groups: a) cerebral palsy/multiple disability; b) mentally challenged; c) visually impaired; d) speech/hearing-impaired. . The winning entries would be sent for the State-level competition, while the winning entries in the State-level competition would be sent to the National Level Competition. The winners would be eligible to receive monthly scholarship. The paintings selected for the award at the national level will be eligible for a first prize of Rs. 5000, second prize of Rs. 3000 and third prize of Rs. 2000. Commonwealth Games medal winner Mark Pollock is suing Enda and Madeline Cahill after the 25-foot plunge onto the patio of their home in Henley. The 39-year-old originally from Holywood Co Down and who now lives in Dublin, suffered a 'catastrophic spinal chord injury' when he fell, his barrister Christopher Wilson-Smith QC told the High Court. The disaster struck in July 2010, just weeks before he was due to marry his fiancée - solicitor Simone George. The High Court on Thursday directed the state government to file its objections to a petition filed by Bangalore Club, by July 28. Hearing the club’s petition, Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan directed it to furnish copies of the amended petition wherein it had incorporated a challenge to the July 20, 2015 order passed by Bengaluru North Assistant Commissioner N Mahesh Babu asking them to hand over the 233-square-yard property to the government within seven days. HC Comes to Aid of Visually Challenged. The High Court on Thursday came to the rescue of a 24-year-old visually challenged person who wanted to write an exam. In a relief to V Prithviraj Aithal, who suffers from 75 per cent low vision, Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan directed the authorities to provide him with a scribe during the civil judges recruitment exam to be held on July 25 for recruitment to 211 posts of civil judges.
