--- Comment #104 from Pavel Varela <impulse...@yandex.ru> ---
Same deal on my new np900x4c - lid state is "open" even when you close the lid.
I'm using dual boot with Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 8.

I didn't notice mentioned previously that the same happens in windows 8.
Meaning that if my laptop doesn't suspend when the lid is closed in Ubuntu, it
doesn't suspend in Windows 8 either (and it ignores all the settings for lid
close in windows Power settings).

Curiously enought that in windows along with lid the fn keys for display
brightness doesn't work too (I had this issue 2 times and both times fn
brighness keys got broken with the lid state).

Just tried holding up the tiny button at the bottom of the laptop as mentioned
previously as a temporary workaround - for now it's working, but i doubt it
will last long.

I've taken my laptop to samsung service here in Russia - evidently they have
not the slightest idea on what is going on and they even changed the
motherboard trying to fix it with no result 9 (a pity i googled up this topic
just now).
