Thanks for the tips. I think I'll get the Active4D 4.x manual printed to paper. It should make for a good bedtime reading for next little while.

I tried to do an install with minimal reading just to see if I was lucky and to see if it would do the same thing - it did. So I suspect the problem lies with ... still figuring this part out.

Since my server is still working fine, I'm going to move some of the files from the server back to my development computer and see if I can narrow the problem that way. If that does not work, I'll try the 'read the manuals' thoroughly thing on getting version 4 of Active4D up and running.

I remember running into something where the install
didnt seem to work right away.. a few suggestions..

1- Read the relevant parts of the manual, and the
update notes carefully.. there are a few changes what
elicit a "doh" moment..

2- Download the demo database, and run it separately..
and then analyze the placement of each and every
component, and replicate them in your setup.

I cant remember the details, but you will find it
quickly enough..

A few other findings:

- after upgrading to Active4D 4.0.2
- moving back to ITK 2.6.1b4
- still does not work

- placed a trace in the A4D_ITK_Slave method
   - when try to call up the .a4d page it does not
activate
A4D_ITK_Slave method
   - I don't think it is making any kind contact
with 4D at all

- keep in mind that it is a local development
computer, running
firefox and the 4D database on the same computer
