I see this environment lasting pas the E12 timeline. It has a ton of room to grow in all aspects of the hardware. This seems like the sort of thing that they needed to have announced a while ago.

One option might be the open source version of http://www.zimbra.com/products/index.html which implements what looks to be a popular new path - AJAX.
