For those of you that are interested .. the saga continues.
Attempting GD 1.43 instead, I get the following messages.
C:\Perl\lib\GD-1.43>perl makefile.pl

Looks good
Warning: prerequisite GD 1.18 not found.
Warning: prerequisite GD::Text 0.80 not found.
Writing Makefile for GD::Graph
...
C:\Perl\lib\GD-1.43>make
'make' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
I don't know what to do about the warnings and I guess I don't have C
installed because 'make' is not a available.
