If you open browse the html documentation that comes with activestate
perl you will see a couple of links near the top of the "Table of
Contents" frame about PPM. This includes instructions on how to deal
with firewalls.

You should try to make use of the documentation that comes with perl, it
can often answer questions and help to solve problems a lot faster than
a forum like this.
