Hi Marlene, Prior to 2006, individuals could/would submit expense reimbursement requests for cellular calls that they could designate as work related. It was messy, required a lot of reimbursements, loaded up our retention mechanisms with copies of their cell phone bills, etc. In 2006, we shifted to a payroll augment. The manager still had to say that the individual needed to use their phone for business. We no longer managed any equipment (unless it was an "office" phone that was shared by multiple people...such as our field workers in the ag stations.) This practice/augment was eliminated in the most recent change in July of 2012. The policy owner eliminated the payment, augmentations, and expense reimbursements for personal cell phones, data plans, or other equipment with cellular connectivity, even when used in the course of performing University job related business. The allowance for departmentally owned contracts, where justified, is still there.
