Hi Kathy,

The University of Toledo merged with the Medical University of Ohio in 2006.
As a result of the merger, a committee was formed to inventory policies;
develop a common format, vetting and approval process; identify conflicting
policies and facilitate a resolution; blend/combine policies where appropriate;
and develop a comprehensive policy website.

I'd be glad to discuss with you the successful action plan to integrate the
policies. If you want to discuss, let me know!

Beth

Subject: [acupa-l] Policy management in transition to independent University

ACUPA members,

The University of Oregon is transitioning from the Oregon University System to
an independent University of Oregon with a Board of Trustees. Part of this
transition involves the massive task of reviewing all system and university
policies, determining which to adopt or rewrite; and deciding where new
policies are needed. Since this includes a great number of policies, the task
needs to be carefully coordinated and managed.

Has anyone gone through this type of transition? If so, did you hire someone
to coordinate this effort and what did that structure look like? We are
looking for any successful models you are willing to share.
