Hi Nicole, We do not have a university policy. When discussed in our office the focus is mostly on rather or not the ticket is considered income and taxable. While searching around we found the following on Utah State University's website: https://www.usu.edu/ias/pdf/Tickets%20Taxability%20Matrix.pdf. I'm not sure if we have a member from USU on the listserv...or if this is even helpful.

However, if you're looking for something that addresses broader gift issues and tax implications, Purdue has just published a policy on Gifts, Gratuities and Recognition (linked below). The policy reminds departments that when giving gifts to students, they have to be cautious of athletics association rules, and when giving items to public officials, they have to be cautious of federal and state laws. It also provides a grid as an appendix to the procedures (also linked below) that shows the approval and tax requirements for tangible items.
