Memorial University's whistleblower policy is called "Protected Disclosure" (
A former President felt that that was a less negative title. More common in
Canada is "Safe Disclosure", I believe). The policy, available here:
http://www.mun.ca/policy/site/policy.php?id=108 , is currently being amended,
with the updated version expected to receive approval in May. We also have
statements regarding protection against retaliation in other policies, such as
Respectful Workplace, Sexual Harassment, etc.

Interestingly, our provincial government as exempted Memorial from the
provincial "Public Interest Disclosure and Whistleblower Protection Act",
available here: http://assembly.nl.ca/Legislation/sr/statutes/p37-2.htm I
don't know the background rationale for this, however, we therefore have the
standalone policy.

Hope this helps in some way.

Subject: [acupa-l] Whistleblower Policy?

Hi all,
We are considering revisions to our Protection for Reporting Improper
Government Activities policy which is a restatement of protection from
retaliation under North Carolina law. I am interested in knowing if other
universities have a separate Whistleblower Protection policy or simply provide
employees with access to information regarding retaliation protections under
applicable state or federal law.
Thanks,
Tinu
