More specifically, you cannot perform a Domain Rename operation on any
domain that has an Exchange Organization within it, without removing the
Exchange Org.

Now, you *can* remove the Exchange Org without a total disaster, if you know
what you're doing.  A lot of the necessary steps have been documented in the
Swing Kit, by Jeff Middleton (www.sbsmigration.com).  Note that this is not
in any way supported or recommended by Microsoft.
