Is there a way to update camera compatibility for Premiere 6.5?

I can go here
http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/dvhdwrdb.html?version=6.5&format=NTSC
and get my list of compatible cameras, but as far as I know, no NEW cameras are
going to be supported, which means I'm constantly on the prowl for an older
camera.

Are there updates such that I can use newer cameras?

In an I-think related question, I've borrowed a few cameras and decks from
people. Premiere couldn't read it, but Windows MovieMaker could, so I used WMM
to import the video, but then found that Premiere didn't want to edit that
video. It would often hang or stutter. Any thoughts/suggestions on that?

curious monkey,

Edward
