On a vcd disc, there's a folder that is called mpeg (I think) the video
file is located there, they have an extenstion as .dat, rename it to
.mpg and you should be able to grab into premiere, however, just keep in
mind, vcd resolutions are half of what dvd are, so you might have
pixalation issue when play back

Subject: [AP] VCD files

I am a high school art teacher and this is the first time posting a
message on this board. I am creating a senior video for the class of
2006. I am using Adobe Premiere 6.5 for this endeavor. I am a newbie
and my technical vocabulary is on an amateur level. I have been
working on this video for months using photos. A mother gave me a DVD
with a collection of senior events. The mother recorded the movies
using her new Digital Recorder (I am not sure what brand). I have
watched the video on Media Player on my computer and the movie looks
fine. When I try to import the files nothing shows when I open the
folder. The files are VCD files. I think that I have to change these
files to MPEG files. I know this is probably a simple and common
problem but I have searched for the answer to my problem for 6 hours
and I am frustrated to no end. Can I convert the file? Do I have to
purchase extra software to convert the movie? Can this even be done?
I know that many of you are tired of such trivial questions, but you
are reading words from a desperate woman!

Ha Ha
