Hello, I´m Sebastián Masana, from Argentina. I´ll appreciate if somebody can give me some advice about the following subject:
I´m trying to make a DVD with a VHS recording I have. I connected the camera to my PC and captured the VHS image (about 40 min.) using the AVER TV GO 007 PLUS (Avermedia) capture device. As a result, I got 3 avi files (because I selected the "avi" format, and decided that the final files were no longer than 4 GB each). I imported this three files to Adobe Premiere 7.0, as a first step to create a DVD. But it happens that when I put this three files in the timeline of Premiere, 2 of this 3 avi files have no sound. I can´t hear the sound, and the audio track of this files shows no sign of the tipical "wave" drawings, that I can see in the other file, the one that works and keeps its sound. I checked the avi files, but they seem to be OK. When I open them with the Windows Media Player, they do have sound. When I import this same 3 files with Adobe Premiere 6.5, I have no problem. The sound is OK. The problem persists in Premiere 7.0. I didn´t try to create the file in Premiere 6.5 and then open it with Premiere 7.0 to see what happens. I´ll do it right now. However, I wonder why the sound dissapears when importing the files with Premiere 7.0. Any advice will be welcomed. Please excuse my weak English, hope you don´t mind. Thanks in advance, Sebastián Masana Buenos Aires, Argentina. ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda Rossiter To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, March 26, 2006 3:48 PM Subject: RE: [AP] 45 minutes gone!!! Write Protected, Locked or Corrupted? Firstly, have you looked for the backup files on your PC? If you were working for several days on a 45 minute project, presumably you either had autosave on, or you saved earlier versions. Do a search throughout your pc for your project name, as I don't know remember the default autosave directory is. In three years of daily Premiere editing I've never managed to lose more than 30 minute's work, as there's always a backup file or earlier project version somewhere. Of course it's probably the wrong time to suggest that saving repeatedly to the same file name throughout a project isn't good practice; I normally end up with 50 to 80 project files saved for a two week project (each with 10 autosaves). Meanwhile, you say this has happened a number of times. To narrow down the problem, is it after you've added an mp3, or a large image file to the project? And what version of premiere are you using? Write Protected, Locked or Corrupted? I am missing a 45 minute project. When I click on it, it says it is either write protected, locked, or corrupted. This is the third time this month! I have moved all of my files to a new drive and everything was working great until this. I ran Sune's -1 fix to no avail. I made a copy of the PPJ file with no luck, and I Opened a new project and imported it in which also failed? What may be happening? It wasn't so bad to edit an 8 minute clip over, but a 45 minute file???? That's 2-3 days at least!
