If Encore won't accept .mp2 or .mpg files that are 704
pixels wide, then it's *Encore* that isn't 100%
standards compliant since 704x576 and 704x480 video is
part of the DVD standard. I wouldn't consider it
acceptable for a product that costs that much to not
be able to use ALL formats that are in the DVD
standard.

An authoring program that cannot use ALL the formats
listed is NOT 100% compliant. Does Adobe claim that
Encore is?

Hmmm, here's something to check if your problem with
Encore is with NTSC video. Is the frame rate 30 or
29.97 (or for the extremely picky software, 29.976)
per second? Standard NTSC is 29.976 but I've yet to
run into a DVD player that can't handle exactly 30.
If you're doing PAL video make sure the FPS is 25.
