You can try that. but if drop outs are recorded to tape during shooting, it'll be useless. What I do to get around is to use other program to encoder the audio(.mp3 or wave) out of the .mpeg file. Then line up with the original .mpeg on the timeline. I can then spot where the dropout is easily according to the audio waveform. Better yet, link the video to the new audio to start editing from there. The program is the audio conforming process within Premiere. I don't know other ways to work around. A lot of people editing HDV are much happy using Sony Vegas. I can't believe I said that in a Premiere forum. :)
