yes, was a bit confused with the term memory usage. the msg occurs after 39-50 mins of starting the capture.

In Task Manager, on the Processes tab, watch the column Commit Size for Adobe Premiere Pro (and with CS4 there is an associated server task whose name I forgot that must also be considered.) and watch how much memory is used. I forgot the specific numbers for a 32-bit system but you can watch the memory usage creeping upward. That’s an indication it is acquiring more memory. When you get the message, the system is still working, right? I wish someone who knows capture would chime in, but since the message says “Save your work”, I wonder whether you could do a save; perhaps the full buffers might then be written to disk thus making them available for more capturing. Is that possible – that is, when the message pops up perform a save, then resume capturing? Just a question. What changed between when you could capture and now? Running low on memory was/is a common problem for CS3 and more so for CS4, especially during rendering. I hadn’t previously heard that capturing was a problem (but I have never had to capture so I never personally ran that capability). I believe your warning message means the actual available physical memory, not disk space. It is starved for more memory. You can verify this by examining memory usage with Task Manager. By way of explanation, on a 32-bit system the application might be getting less than 1G from the OS (you have 4G installed but there is actually only about 3.4 usable total, the OS kernel and drivers use some of that, and then the OS allocates the remaining between all applications such as CS3 but none will be allowed to have all the remaining, only a part of it). Note that capturing might not be able to use virtual memory for performance reasons, it may require sufficient physical memory buffers. There are a few things you can do, but not much. Adobe’s advice for 32-bit users was to examine the Windows startup processes and to eliminate as many of them as possible. No anti-virus, no unnecessary drivers, no background monitoring processes, mail, etc. And when you do run Premiere, make sure no other application is running. Doing this frees up as much memory as possible. Unfortunately the actual quantity freed may still be inadequate, but if your system is border line, it may help. As an aside, I often received those low-memory warnings during rendering or encoding when I had CS3 and CS4, and the system would sometimes crash or hang-up. Eventually I learned that Adobe knew of the situation but that they were going to focus on 64-bit because they felt a 32-bit system couldn’t give enough memory to the Adobe application. I believe the current Premiere Pro is 64-bit only, probably for that reason.
