1080i is interlaced, 1080p is progressive. 1080p or Full HD is 1920x1080 
pixels. To display 1080i a monitor only needs 540 pixels vertically though most 
have 720 to display 720p video.

A TV with the HDTV logo should support 1080p, but I've seen it on ones that 
only go up to 1800i. SDTV is 480p or 640x480 for NTSC. Between SDTV and HDTV is 
EDTV for Enhanced Definition TV which should support 720p.
