I seem to remember this coming up before. Check previous items on this list.
If my memory serves me correctly, someone else had a problem related to this
and it turned out that there was too much external lighting on the library,
causing it to interfere with the barcode reader.

Subject: Problems with Barcode Reader.
L.S.
We have a problem with a Magstar 3575 Tape library.
When auditing the library, with parameter "checklrcode" the barcode is
not recognized.
The robot must put the tape in the drive in order to recognize the tape
label.
All the microcodes and the Atape drivers have been upgraded to the
latest
level, but to no avail.
We think that the problem is hardware related.
Can anyone out there give us some assistance or clues?
TIA.
Gwen Garcia.
