Hi Desalegne, We had the same thing with our 3583, once in a while we got that error.
You might want to check the revision of the plastic slots that hold the tapes. It's printed on the side of the thing. Rev A is the one with ploblems on holding the tapes too tight causing changer failures. Rev B is the fix for that, contact your ibm service center to have them replaced. The error on the Library shows SAC 8100 and on q actlog has the following message: 03/15/2004 06:00:33 ANR8381E LTO volume 649AENL1 could not be mounted in drive DR1 (mt2.1.0.4). 03/15/2004 06:00:33 ANR1401W Mount request denied for volume 649AENL1 - mount failed. 03/15/2004 06:00:38 ANR8943E Hardware or media error on library LTOLIB (OP=8401C058, CC=304, KEY=04, ASC=40, ASCQ=C0, SENSE=70.00.04.00.00.00.00.0A.00.00.00.00.40.C0.81.00.00- .00., Description=Changer failure). Refer to Appendix D in the 'Messages' manual for recommended action. 03/15/2004 06:00:40 Checked what the Appendix D in the manual suggests but didn't find that being the case here. The only way I can get around this problem is by rebooting the Library. Any help I can get is appreciated.
