There were also problems with earlier models of the 3583 (before about June of 2003) with static buildup. Robot would run fine for a while, until enough static built up, then the picker would die for no reason apparent to the user. However, with ours, the FIRST failure was always on a dismount. Fix was a new picker. IBM replaced it, we've had no such problems since.
If this continues, call your hardware support. Let them check the versions of the firmware, and the version of the hand. -----Original Message----- From: Desalegne Guangul [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, March 17, 2004 8:58 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: 3583 Library problem Hi Guys, I'm using Storage management server version 5.1.6.0 on windows 2000 advanced server and Tape Library IBM LTO 3583-L18 with two drives. Once every two weeks I get the following error and nothing get backup to the tapes. The error on the Library shows SAC 8100 and on q actlog has the following message: 03/15/2004 06:00:33 ANR8381E LTO volume 649AENL1 could not be mounted in drive DR1 (mt2.1.0.4). 03/15/2004 06:00:33 ANR1401W Mount request denied for volume 649AENL1 - mount failed. 03/15/2004 06:00:38 ANR8943E Hardware or media error on library LTOLIB (OP=8401C058, CC=304, KEY=04, ASC=40, ASCQ=C0, SENSE=70.00.04.00.00.00.00.0A.00.00.00.00.40.C0.81.00.00- .00., Description=Changer failure). Refer to Appendix D in the 'Messages' manual for recommended action. 03/15/2004 06:00:40 Checked what the Appendix D in the manual suggests but didn't find that being the case here. The only way I can get around this problem is by rebooting the Library. Any help I can get is appreciated.
