My primary client is refusing to use Perl in its next generation
product - only because Java has more "buzzword value." And this is
not the first time I've heard this issue.

I would like to make a radical proposal: when we make Perl 6, give it
a name other than "Perl". Spin it as a new language that is "based
on" Perl. Make a big hype that it incorporates some of the best
features of Java - and do so, if it's convenient (and if there are
any).

Everyone's caught by the "CGI is so slow" and is ignoring the
existence of Apache mod_perl.

There is no NSAPI or ISAPI mod_perl, and there needs to be one.

Web scripting was the killer app that got Perl to where it is. We
can't afford to lose it.
