Not everyone wants to be a programmer and think that taking a lunch and
leaving work at a reasonable hour are good things[tm]. And from what I've
heard around the web farms lately, CF is being used less these days in
favour of WebSphere and some other products. Companies like to buy
solutions as applications are usually cheaper than the labour costs not to
mention there is the added bonus of support, etc. The software may be free
but people's time is not.
I'd still like to see Adobe GoLive or Dreamweaver get hooks in for
building simple Perl CGI apps and maybe even some DBI functionality.
I've been very impressed with the 'try-and-buy' version of GoLive that
came with Photoshop6. I hate HTML and with this I never even have to see
it if I don't want to and it blends seamlessly with the entire suite of
Adobe products.
The corporate world is not where you do things the right way because you
should it's where you do what you must to be there first and on time. Time
to market is the measure everything lives or dies by.
