I frequently run into the same thing you do as well. Usually the
mention of some big websites using Perl/mod_perl gets my foot in the
door, then they can listen more seriously to talk of fast development
time, modules, etc.

However, I've never had to argue with someone for using Perl in a
*product*, just on individual websites or for individual tasks.
