Nice to see the thread gravitate back towards advocacy.  I'm still trying 
to dispel the image of Ilya in a bathing suit :-)

Perhaps what we can do in lieu of cloning ActiveState is provide a clearing 
house for Perl consultancies, one-stop shopping for companies looking for 
help with Perl.  Maybe a portal with links to all training, development, 
maintenance, etc businesses for Perl... but perhaps I run away with 
myself.  Doesn't need to be that elaborate.

Hmm.  Could be a job for use.perl.org?
