I don't think you'll get any argument on that.
But how does the Perl community rate in terms of humility?
Worse than Java, Python, or Ruby? I think not!
Worse than C and Visual Basic, I suppose.

Perhaps, but most of that code is necessary simply to get a
programming environment roughly equivalent to core perl.

Anyway, Java has one thing right that Perl would do well to
emulate, IMHO, and that is its package/module scheme. But
that's a topic for another forum...

CPAN can be packaged any way you want. It's just an Open repository.
