Nobody's interested in Michael Polanyi?

I admit he doesn't have as large a following as his fellow polymath, Charles
Peirce.

Perhaps that's because he's not that bullish on explicit knowledge -- the kind
transferable by signs and books and governed by hierarchies of authority.
(like the committees of vetting experts invoked by both Francis and William)

He's more concerned with unspeakable knowledge -- and with the learning that
takes place within families or small workshops.

Did he have much to say about the kind of arts that interest us?

I don't know -- but I'll be looking it up. (and it turns out that the Polanyi
Society is coming to Chicago in June, so maybe I'll ask them)
