I think we are born with some preferences and then artwork develops the taste farther in certain directions. Matisse liberated me in the ways of using colors, which lead me to deeper understanding of art before him (Cezanne), then cubism and Russian Avant- Garde. But it happened, because I had inclinations to be impressed by Matisse in the first place- rudiment of taste. Boris Shoshensky
