If stuff sensed to exist in fact is found to evolve in the
direction of a good end goal, to the fit benefit of stuff, this
action of goodness and goalness is surely not a determination of
mind. The direction indicates a relation between the start and
finish of stuff. If the stuff is objective material matter that
continues to exist in the far reaches of the universe, then no
mental presence would be required to determine the direction or
relation. The main objection from the notional and nominal camp
directed at realism and pragmatism as "global" accounts of all
stuff in the world may rest squarely and firmly on the realist
and pragmatist insistence of the persistence and presence of
"relativity" among stuff, and whether the key "relations" that
may exist to bind stuff are objective material things that
continue independent of mind or are subjective mental constructs
made solely in the mind alone. The most primal relation as an
external fact of course would likely exist in mechanisms of
matter like atoms as the binder that relatively joins and links
connective particles together, and where the force doing this
would be the natural "feelings" of stuff to act in just such
ways. The relations furthermore need not be concrete strands that
actually wire or fuse stuff together, but may be the simply
"place" of single parts within a whole ground. To dismiss "all"
relations as merely subjective mental constructs made as notions
in the mind would be unwise or at least premature. The notional
and nominal approaches as accounts of some particular stuff in
the world are however useful and needed, but they clearly fail as
global accounts. The subjective and psychologistic accounts of
some relations in mind, such as the initial "desire" for truth
made on the part of thinkers for example, cannot be accounted for
objectively by logic alone. The just task for me under idealist
realism and its naturalist pragmatism with its objective
relativism is to find and hold those global "relations" in the
world that might prove to be objectively general and typically
universal. The start of my quest would likely be with the most
primal distant continua that could be sensed in the infinite
world, such as eternal time or perpetual space.
