"But Boris' response, even if logical, has not especially advanced the
discussion."

It did by regarding four modes as a narrow approach to complicated subject
which requires 'inside' experience.

"When I saw Chris's inapt original response with its illogic, its inattention
to what the other person had just written, it vexed me"

How can a response have "illogic" if words have no meaning? (Which is only to
say that the above quote could not logically come from Cheerskep.)

But Boris' response, even if logical, has not especially advanced the
discussion.

Why are Berger's four modes not for those who create paintings?

Does Boris refer to those who create ANY kind of painting, or just paintings
that are similar to the "early modern system" ?

Are they "not for those who create paintings" only because they are not
useful to them?

Is there any point in non-painters talking about painting technologies at
all?
(unless "technology" only involves the ideas found in chemistry and physics)
