I certainly agree that there is an independent reality but how it is perceived (always partially) is a subjective construct even if that construct is adopted from socialized norms and scientific laws. If that is true for all humans, then it is certainly true for all other earthly creatures because we are excluded from being in their body/brains and have no idea of how their sensing patterns, images, are processed, if at all.
Back to humans, it may be true that our brains are wired (I hate that term, but can't think of a better one) to produce physiological sensations) but none of them are free from manipulation by cultural influences. At any rate, naming is not limited to words.
