Marcuse views Kant as formulating esthetics judgment as being an apparatus that mediates between practical (experiential) and theoretical (analytic) reason - and in doing so bridging the realm of nature and freedom - in other words aesthetic judgment links desire (will) and knowledge (understanding/) in a self-reflective manner - it in turn reflects the unrepressed response to nature(the realm of causality) - thus aesthetics become associated with the autonomy of the individual (subjectivity - not subjectivism(taste)
