Title: Re: [AFMUG] OT Being lazy
Chuck,

I have one of those sitting on my desk running the dude client attached to a HDMI monitor.  I was worried about how long it would last, but I'm going on 3 years now of 24/7 running.  Not the fastest thing out there, but if it is going to basically be doing web searches it should be fine.

Had no idea they were this cheap.  And windows too.  Windows alone used to be more than this.

I don't recommend getting an all-in-one PC-monitor as you have limited monitor size options, and if anything breaks inside, you're extremely limited in what you can use to fix it.

I recommend just getting a mini-PC and hiding it behind the monitor. Some can even run on 12V (may want to put power regulation in the power path depending on how stable the source is). From where do you usually buy PCs?

Instead of googling it I will just ask the Borg:  Looking for a monitor, perhaps 14-18” with a PC built in.  Like to use a USB mouse and keyboard.  Wifi built in.  No, I don’t want to cobble one together with a Raspberry PI etc.

It is for permanent mounting in my splicing trailer so we always have access to the internet when out and about.  Just make the techs run on their phone hotspots if they want to look up something with a decent sized screen.  If they start streaming movies, well it is their data plan, not mine...
